Official Newsome Campaign – Skyping, Tweeting and Streaming…

October 3rd, 2009

Baby Montana and Jennifer Siebel Newsom came home from the hospital yesterday. You may already know this if you follow Mayor Newsom on twitter: “Just brought baby home from hospital- I think we drove 3 mph- sorry for traffic jam!”

Mayor Newsom is staying close to home these days and has curtailed his travel and campaign schedule to spend time with his new family. So, we have moved some campaign events online. We started this week with the trifecta – Skype, Twitter and UStream.

Yesterday morning, Mayor Newsom Skyped into 140 – the Twitter Conference – and gave brief remarks on how San Francisco is using twitter as part of the city’s 311 service. You can check out this twitpic from @Jonathan360 of Mayor Newsom on the big screen at the conference.

Later in the afternoon, we held our first “Twitter talk” with Change Candidate Wanted for California. Mayor Newsom participated in a live Q and A session on twitter for almost an hour – it was a great event. You can check out the whole transcript here.

Last but not least, we are holding our first online, video town hall this evening at 6PM. The Mayor will be taking questions in real time via chat and Twitter and answering them through streaming video. Thanks to Raven Brooks and Netroots Nation for partnering with us and moderating the discussion. There is still time to join us – you can RSVP here.
